And we have three dogs, a lizard, and a horse. You get the picture. This description may be much like yours or completely… Read More

9 Reflections on a Trail

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Homeschooling, Inspiration for the Journey

Our family went camping with friends. And by camping I really mean “glamping”.  Say what you will, we left our house and spent more time outside than usual. The outdoors is a perfect place for reflections. Part of this time we spent on a short hike.  As I was snapping pictures along the trail we… Read More

My Calendar, My Life

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Silliness and Sarcasm

My calendar, is, without doubt, my best friend. Unless what it really is, is a dreaded task-masker! Whether I say “ugh” when I look at it, or derive a sense of peace from knowing that my life is all laid out before me, depends on the day, or the season of life. As I wrap… Read More

I Love You More

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Homeschooling

I wonder when he will stop.  When he will stop telling me multiple times a day that he loves me. That he loves me SO MUCH. I love you SO MUCH, Mommy.  I love you more than a dragon with arrows on fire coming out of its mouth.  That’s a special kind of love. The… Read More

The First of the Last

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Homeschooling
Katie

Here it is. The day before the first day of the last year of homeschooling my second child. It’s different than how I felt at the beginning of my eldest’s senior year. I actually think I’m a bit more melancholy this time. I’m anticipating the tears, all of the “last times”, and the worry that… Read More

A Day Like Any Other

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Homeschooling, Inspiration for the Journey
Lindsey

It’s a day like any other day. And nothing will ever be the same again. Sounds pretty dramatic, doesn’t it? Those were the words I wrote after leaving my first-born at college for the first time last year. Words I penned through tears. Tears that my young adult daughter didn’t know I had shed until… Read More

Life Isn’t Fair

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Inspiration for the Journey

Life isn’t fair. We all know that. But sometimes we think it should be. Especially when we’ve floated along with no huge setbacks or problems. And then life happens. Not something good, like a newborn baby, but the nitty-gritty junk that comes our way just by virtue of living. Whether we live alone or in… Read More

Stillness In The Fire

by Rochelle, in category Family Life, Inspiration for the Journey

The Holy Fire. That’s what it is called. That’s why we left. To get away from the raging flames and smoke of it all. The Holy Fire. Ash was falling on us as we packed the vehicles. I made my eight-year-old close his eyes when we walked out to leave, so none would get in… Read More

Surprised by the Stillness

by Rochelle, in category Family Life
Surprised by the Stillness

I changed the location of my desk. It is now in a totally different room in my home. Not only is my desk in a different room in my home, but also on a different floor of my home. I didn’t know I would like it this much. You see, I have had to carve… Read More

About Me

Hi, I’m Rochelle, a wife, mother of 3, homeschool mom, piano teacher, and entrepreneur. I love God, my husband, my children, and numerous others. I’m a lover of appropriate silliness. I also love the freedom of homeschooling and the opportunity I have to spend every day with my family. I work from home and like so many modern moms, I’m busy. I desire to be busy doing the right things, at the right times, and to purposefully find times to be still.
